GIS Database Administrator

Motivf is seeking a highly skilled and experienced GIS Database Administrator to join our team for an exciting project with the Navy GIS. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and supporting Enterprise GIS environments, be an expert in Esri platforms, and possess extensive experience with PostgreSQL. Additionally, the candidate must be CSWF compliant and have a favorable T3 Investigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize GIS databases to ensure high availability and performance.

  • Support and manage Enterprise GIS environments, ensuring data integrity and security.

  • Utilize advanced knowledge of Esri platforms to support GIS applications and services.

  • Implement and manage PostgreSQL databases, including performance tuning, backup, and recovery.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy GIS solutions that meet project requirements.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly to minimize downtime.

  • Develop and implement database standards, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient and secure data management.

  • Conduct regular database audits and assessments to identify and address potential risks and areas for improvement.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

  • Stay current with emerging GIS technologies and best practices to continuously enhance the capabilities of the GIS environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Over 10 years of experience in GIS database administration, specifically supporting Enterprise GIS environments.

  • Proven expertise with Esri platforms (e.g., ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro).

  • Extensive experience with PostgreSQL, including database design, performance tuning, and maintenance.

  • Favorable T3 Investigation and CSWF compliance.

  • Strong understanding of database security, backup, and recovery processes.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Relevant certifications in GIS and database administration are a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working on GIS projects within the defense or federal sector.

  • Familiarity with Navy GIS standards and protocols.

  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or SQL for automation and data manipulation.
